Ether ETH, Ethereum’s native token, has been pulled from the peer-to-peer cryptocurrency marketplace Paxful due to a variety of security issues related to the world’s second-largest cryptocurrency by market value.
The decision was made public by Paxful’s CEO Ray Youssef in a statement to the site’s 11.6 million members.
Youssef cited Paxful’s desire to preserve its integrity and attempts to prevent “economic apartheid” throughout the world caused by fiat monetary systems as the key reasons for the removal of ETH from the marketplace.
First, the shift from PoW to PoS consensus in Ethereum‘s blockchain. Youssef defended PoW, claiming that it is the “invention that makes Bitcoin the only honest money there is,” while he labeled ETH a “digital form of fiat” due to Ethereum’s switch to PoS.
